Malindo Air starts flights to Adelaide

On April 17th 2019, Malindo Air’s Inaugural flight to Adelaide took place. The airline serves Adelaide 4 times weekly, on a flight from Kuala Lumpur to Adelaide via Denpasar. Flight OD173 (Denpasar to Adelaide) is scheduled to arrive into Adelaide at 0640 ACDT, and depart an hour later back to Denpasar as OD174. The inaugural flight was served by B737-8GP 9M-LCD, and since the Inaugural Adelaide has seen 13 of the Airlines 737-800s; 9M-LCD, 9M-LCC, 9M-LCG, 9M-LNV, 9M-LCH, 9M-LNZ, 9M-LNR, 9M-LNQ, 9M-LCJ, 9M-LNU, 9M-LNS, 9M-LNM and 9M-LCL. Malaysia Airlines A330-223 9M-MTU diverted to Adelaide

In the early hours of Thursday, 4th April 2019, Malaysia Airlines MH130 diverted to Adelaide while en route from Auckland to Kuala Lumpur. The flight was operated by A330-200 9M-MTU. This was the aircraft’s first visit to Adelaide and just the second Malaysia Airlines A330-200 for Adelaide Airport. The Malaysia Airlines A330-200 is rare to Australia, as it has no scheduled flights here. All of Malaysia Airlines flights to Australia are either operated by B737-800 (Perth), A330-300 (Perth (seasonal), Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane), A350-900 (Sydney) or A380-800 (Sydney (seasonal)). The reason for the diversion was a medical emergency. 9M-MTU touched down in Adelaide at 2:11am (ACDT) and departed for Kuala Lumpur later the same day at 10:01am (ACDT) with the same callsign. Qatar Airways A350-941 A7-AMG 1st visit to Adelaide

Qatar Airways A350-941 A7-AMG made its first visit to Adelaide on 12th March 2019. This flight was significant as Qatar Airways does not operate QSuites on their Adelaide route, and this aircraft is fitted with QSuites. Qatar Airways have planned to operate QSuites to Adelaide from August this year however this isn’t certain. If Qatar Airways do operate QSuites on the Adelaide route, it is likely we will get Qatar’s Oneworld livery A350-941, A7-ALZ. Picture @Ryan Hothersall
